Notes: A sweet short song like this brings me deep rewards -- the chance to drop into the joy, the preciousness, the abundance of simply being alive. For me to learn it, Jane sent me "a just rough off the looper" recording -- and it was so, so beautiful! Don't miss the links to Jane's recorded music -- her voice is like flavored butter -- smooth with an extra kick -- and the sense you get of her self that infuses her singing is generous and gentle and joystruck. My version doesn't sound nearly as good as her's to me -- and yet, it was such a pleasure to get to sing the song, and I think it'll work so you can learn the song and take it on into your own life, with your own voice. If Jane ever records it, or you get a chance to hear Jane live, maybe you can sing it along with her!

Beautiful, calming and powerful. I learned this song in the time it took me to unravel a misknitted section of a sock. I am reminded that we are not our human foibles.

Hi Patricia - It is February 25 and I'm spending time looking for songs to hold myself and my children during this time of mourning. I am also in the middle of Annie Arrington's class - learning to read choral music. As I listened to you talk about the home notes, I realize that I instinctively recognized 1-3-5/do-mi-so!!
So exciting!!! Now on to songs to hold us tight in love.

Such a beautiful practice to find the songs that hold you and your loved ones as you grieve. And hooray for the developing understanding of the structures underneath songs -- the more we know about something, the more deeply we can appreciate it, seems to me...
